Autumn Scents

Autumn Scents

Welcome to our monthly blog where we will be reviewing various fragrances based on a central theme.

Fragrances have that transportive element which is one of the main reasons we all fell in love with this fascinating world and so in this first excerpt we will be discovering some fragrances which evoke memories of the season of Autumn. Although personally we tend to wear the below fragrances all year round, there is a clear correlation between resinous, spicy and sweet fragrances and the cooler weather.

Autumn signifies a new start, a season for change, improvement and potential. A season for renewal and new beginnings. Although Cyprus is not known for having a cold autumn, the nights are getting cooler and it is the perfect time to discover some new scents. Here we will take a look at three perfect scents for the change of the season which officially starts on the 22nd September.

Immortelle by Manos Gerakinis

This is the perfect gourmand for the autumn season and we were allured by the scent from the very first time we tried it. To us it evokes images of eating cookies by the fireplace. IMMORTELLE is an exciting showcase of the eponymous flower’s versatile beauty. Also known as “everlasting”, Myth has it that Trojan Prince Paris declared his love for beautiful Helen, the Queen of Sparta, by referencing the immortelle: “Do you not see this flower? Your hair shares the same golden colour, your body resembles its stem, and your skin is as soft as its petals. Your beauty will be equally everlasting.”

It is an elegant gourmand crowned by delicious notes of brown sugar and milk, delectable spices of cinnamon and clove, and resinous/earthy elements (benzoin, patchouli, sandalwood), immortelle’s inherent honey, tea, and tobacco nuances shine in a highly addictive, yet utterly sophisticated, composition.

Gourmands sometimes have the tendency to turn too sweet or overbearing but Manos always strikes that perfect balance with his fragrances and this fragrance is one we never get tired of wearing.

Vanille Havane by Les indemodables

This is an ambery, woody and leathery masterpiece which fits perfectly in one s fragrance rotation for autumn and winter and we are excited to share this with you.

In the extraordinary fragrance Vanille Havane by Les Indémodables, perfumer Antoine Lie wanted to celebrate the singular ingredient vanilla by taking you on an immersive Virtual Reality journey through its olfactive complexity. With notes of vanilla, cacao and jasmine, perfumer Antoine Lie takes you on a journey of his interpretation of vanilla as an intoxicating scent with nuances of rum, dried fruits, cacao, cigar and dark florals on amber and leathery base.

The fragrance never ceases to surprise us and each time we wear it we get something new out of it. The sweet facets are beautifully contrasted with the leathery and dark floral nuances and the note of cigar grounds the fragrance in a masterful manner.

Montri by Dusita parfums

Montri is an artistic re-interpretation of the iconic oudh infini which we also have in store. Although not as animalic as the latter, this scent is every bit as bold and unique as that one. Inspiration for this scent was the founder’s father’s poetry. In her own words, “My father’s poetry has been the heart of every perfume I’ve created. After twelve fragrances, I felt compelled to express a direct olfactory tribute to him. Montri captures the essence of his personality, his passions and beliefs, and the scents he cherished. To reflect his enduring spirit, I envisioned the fragrance he would love today.” Pissara Umavijani.

Montri is a spicy woody fragrance with top notes of spices, dried fruits, heart notes of orris butter, rose and leather accord and base notes of oud palao, patchouli and vetiver. This scent is for the fragrance aficionado, who is eager to push the boundaries and try something that will take you on a unique journey. This is not your classic oud – rose combination and it is truly as luxurious and rich a fragrance as you would hope to find in niche perfumery.

Bonus fragrance

Chai by Baruti

Spyros Drosopoulos is a former neuroscientist turned perfumer and his fragrances are every bit as unique as himself. Chai is such a photorealistic scent of a sweet-spicy Indian masala chai tea: comfortable and delicious! With notes of Vanilla, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clove, Pepper, Ginger, Milk accord, Chocolate, Leather, Musk, Rose and Tea, this scent is destined to warm you up on those colder autumn nights. Chai will instantly relax and comfort you up like a snug jumper.
